Privacy Policy
Effective October 15, 2026
The short version. Line Change turns the heart rate from your hockey games into ice time, shifts and effort. Your data is used only to show you those numbers. It is never sold, never used for advertising, and you can delete all of it at any time from the app.
Who we are
Line Change is a hockey analytics app made in Atlanta, Georgia, currently in a test (pilot) phase. Questions about this policy or your data: contact us here.
What we collect
- Account: your first name, email address and password. Passwords are stored only as a secure hash by our database provider; we can't see them.
- Profile: birthday, weight, sex, position and (optionally) maximum heart rate. These are used to work out calories, heart-rate zones and effort.
- Hockey sessions: for each game, its start time, length, calories reported by your device, and your heart rate during it. From these we calculate shifts, time on ice, heart-rate recovery, effort and the other stats you see.
- Teams: the team and league names you enter.
- Connections: when you connect Polar, a sign-in token from Polar that lets us read your new sessions. It is stored in a part of our database that the app itself cannot read.
- Apple Health (iPhone app): only if you allow it, we read your Ice Hockey workouts and the heart rate and calories recorded during them. We read nothing else from Apple Health and never write to it.
- Imports: if you import past games from a device's data export, your phone extracts only hockey heart rate and uploads that. The uploaded file is deleted as soon as the games are saved.
- On your device only: display preferences such as theme and units.
We do not collect your location or GPS routes, contacts, photos, or advertising identifiers, and we do not use analytics or tracking tools.
How we use it
Only to provide the app: to analyse your games, show you your stats and history, and keep your account working. Apple Health data in particular is used solely to provide these features to you. It is not used for advertising or marketing, not sold, and not shared with anyone for those purposes.
Who processes it for us
We use a small number of service providers to run the app. They handle your data only on our instructions:
- Supabase: database, sign-in and file storage (United States).
- Cloudflare: hosts the app's web pages.
- GitHub: runs the jobs that analyse new games.
- Google (Gmail): sends sign-up and password emails.
- Polar: when you connect it, we receive your hockey sessions from Polar under your Polar account's permissions.
We don't share your data with anyone else, except if the law requires it.
Who can see your data
Only you. Each player's data is walled off at the database level, so other players can't see it. Future features that share stats with teammates will be opt-in.
Keeping and deleting it
We keep your data while your account exists. Delete Account (Menu → Your Account) permanently removes your account, profile, games, teams and connections straight away. You can also disconnect Polar at any time, and turn off Line Change's Apple Health access in the iPhone Settings app under Health → Data Access & Devices.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit. Access to the database is restricted per player, and connection tokens are stored separately from everything the app can read.
Children
Line Change is meant for players 13 and older. Players under 18 should use it with a parent's or guardian's permission. If you believe a child under 13 has signed up, contact us and we'll delete the account.
Your rights
You can see your data in the app, correct your profile, and delete everything at any time. For a copy of your data or any other request, contact us and we'll respond within 30 days.
Changes
If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we'll tell you in the app before the change takes effect.
